Malawi-Zambia Transmission Interconnection Project


The 400kV Malawi-Zambia Interconnector Project will involve constructing a 400kV power line from the 400/132kV Nkhoma Substation in Lilongwe in Malawi to the existing Chipata West 330/132kV substation in Zambia. The total line distance is approximately 184 km out of which 40km is in Zambia and 144km is in Malawi. ZESCO has indicated its intention to upgrade the Chipata substation to 400kV
