Malawi Water and Sanitation Project - I

In a bid to improve water supply and sanitation service delivery to residents of the city of Blantyre and surrounding areas, the Government of Malawi (GoM), through BWB and BCC, with financial support from the International Development Association (IDA), intends to implement the Malawi Water and Sanitation Project-1(MWSP-1), whose development objective is to improve access to water supply and safely managed sanitation services, operational efficiency, and the financial sustainability of BWB and BCC. The project interventions are therefore expected to contribute to improved access to water and sanitation for the residents of Blantyre, thus improving the city's health outcomes and quality of life and enabling the business environment for its residents and BWB and BCC.

The overall objective of the Malawi Water and Sanitation Project -1(MWSP-1) to improve access to safely managed water supply and sanitation services in Blantyre, the Blantyre Metropolitan Area, and to enhance the operational and financial efficiency of the Blantyre Water Board.
